A Vocation View

	Jesus commanded Peter:
"feed my lambs ... feed my sheep,"
May many young men heed
the call of Christ Jesus
to do the same as priests of the New Covenant.
Let u pray the Lord to send laborers to his harvest.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Our journey through life is seldom a straight path. Our
personal choices or decisions that others make for us can impact
our lives including our spiritual lives.

*	Are you, or do you know of someone who was baptized in the
Catholic faith, but for various reasons never completed their
sacramental preparation by receiving Eucharist and
Confirmation?

*	Perhaps your family moved frequently or you never connected to
a parish family in your younger years and were not part of a
Religious Education program.

*	Have you been attending Mass with your Catholic spouse, and
have an interest in learning more about the Catholic faith?

*	Do you know someone who is interested in becoming Catholic or
someone who has never been baptized?

If you can relate to these situations, consider completing
your sacramental preparation by looking into the RCIA! Contact
Mimi Wolak @ 941-3851 or e-mail her at mimiotvision@hotmail.com
to learn more about how you can enrich your spiritual life
through full participation in the life of the church through the
sacraments.

The Joy of Golf
for People with Disabilities

Would you like to play golf again, but don't think you can
because of a disability, back or neck pain, or arthritis? Has a
disability or pain kept you from even learning to golf? Then
this clinic is for you!

Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital has teamed up with Peter
Longo, a former PGA Tour player, who is internationally known as
a leading authority and teacher on golf for the disabled. Peter
authored the first teaching video and CD on the subject and has
been conducting golf seminars for disabled students and teachers
all over Spain.

Together, Marianjoy's golf therapy specialists and Peter
have created several clinics to help you return to golf, or maybe
start playing for the first time.

Clinics are $25 and include two hours of instruction,
focusing on your particular needs at your specific level of play.
Participants are divided up into beginner, intermediate, and
advanced groups for better instruction and learning.
Registration is required. Clinic dates vary, so please call for
details.

Please contact Tracy Ekstrom, CTRS and certified golf
instructor for individuals with disabilities at Marianjoy, at
630-462-4040.

Religious Education

Thank you to those who have stepped forward to help in our
RE program. However, we are still in need of Catechists for next
fall. At Session One we need 3 people to help prepare our
second graders for the sacraments of Reconciliation and
First Eucharist. This is such a meaningful year for our
little ones. It is also very rewarding for our catechists.
Just ask anyone who has helped at that level. We also need
1 person to help in Grade 3 at this time. At Session Two, we
have positions open at Grade 1, 3, and 5. In the last session, we
need help in Grade 6.
	The time slots are 3:15 - 4:30, 5:15 - 6:30, and 7:15 -
8:30PM respectively.
If you love children and you love your faith, we invite you to
join our staff. We will help you with the rest. Our Religious Ed
Program is one of the best in the area, which is reflected in our
continually growing enrollment. But we cannot do it without you.
Please call for more information to see how you can help.
If you have any questions or need more information, please call
Mary Ann Woods at the REO, 832-8962.

Recycling and Environment

What is the problem with electronic waste? IBM estimates
that discarded computers occupied 2 million tons of landfill
space in 2000. Why should I recycle my old electronics? Recycling
of your old electronics helps to create new raw materials that
can be used in other products. EPA says 24% of lead in landfills
is from TV and monitor tubes.

I recently dropped off equipment at Supply Chain Services
(SSI), 250 W. North Avenue, Lombard, and they said you can bring
in almost anything that plugs into an outlet. They accept items
for drop-off only. Fee charged - call for details (630-629-
9344). Current fees: monitors $9, towers $4, keyboard $1, cell
phones, copiers, etc., 15 cents per pound.

Another drop-off outlet for computers and Electronics is
HOB International, 1202 Nagel Blvd, Batavia. Fee charged - call
for details. (Submitted by Debbie Styka)

     DuPage Emergency Shelter - Opportunities

Catholic Charities operates a 24 hour year round emergency
shelter and program in Villa Park which serves individuals and
families who are situationally homeless. During the program the
individuals and families work to regain self-sufficiency and
their independence. The residents work toward securing
employment and then housing. We ask for your help in the
following:

o The Shelter needs volunteers who can engage young
children in activities during the week day or on Saturdays while
their parents are out searching for a job or housing. The
activity would be at the shelter while a Catholic Charities
employee is always on site. If you have questions or would like
to apply and begin the required background checks process, please
call Sandra Feely at (630) 495-8008, ext 64.

o Our Shelter is in a great need of a toy box to hold
children's toys. The box we had previously is very old and needs
to be replaced. The one we have now holds about 10 children's
toys and is a rectangular box. The toy box must have a top on
it. If you can donate a new or gently used toy box to our
shelter, please call Yvonne Morrongiello, DuPage Emergency
Shelter Supervisor, at (630) 941 8681.

Lands of the Bible - coming...

ARE YOU A BIBLE STUDY LEADER IN YOUR HEART?

"Come follow Me" Allow the Word of God to Form You as
a Disciple of Jesus -

We are planning to continue with some lighter study during
the spring-summer and would like to invite you to join us in
becoming a facilitator for the second of these Tuesday study
groups; Lands of the Bible.

Studies will begin Tuesday, August 8th and run Tuesdays,
through the week of Sept 25th. Very little training is needed. We
will be working as one large team. There will be one training
meeting on Saturday, July 15th at 9:00 AM in Barrett Hall. The
more leaders we have, the more groups we can breakout. The study
evenings will have pre-planned prayer, video, and breakout
discussion. Each session will be 1 hour in length, and we are
vacation-friendly. Just be sure to come back to us refreshed.
Please call Lynn Suwanski since I know you are interested. 630-
530-2523 (evenings).

"Our parishioner Lou Ciancio found this article in another
parish bulletin and recommended this advice to us!"
