Dear Parishioners,

This week, I would like to share with you a letter I recently received from the Spinelli family. I have asked for their permission to put their letter in the bulletin. There are many times when our lives touch others and we do not realize it. The welcome the Spinelli's received at Mary Queen led them to decide to join our parish. Also, the prayers of this community for their granddaughter have proved to be very powerful. Let us allow the Spinelli's to inspire us to be an even more welcoming community of people who are fervent in their prayer for others. You will all be in my prayers while I am away on vacation. God bless you. -Mary

Dear Mary,

I can't believe it was January that we had received this form from Mary Queen of Heaven. I am sorry it has taken so long to respond.

Paul and I have been attending mass and contributing at Mary Queen for over 2 years now. We have often thought of becoming registered members and just have never followed through. I have been a member of St. John Vianney in Northlake for my entire life (58 years). So although I have seldom attended Mass at St. John's during the past 2 years it is always difficult to make changes. However, I think it is finally time for us to move on. I have enclosed the registration form to become members of Mary Queen of Heaven.

We started attending Mass at Mary Queen when the Mass schedule at St. John's had changed and we knew we needed to attended Mass somewhere else, at least temporarily. We had gone to one other church and then attended Mary Queen of Heaven and have been going there ever since. As we have so often heard you say- "All are welcome". And I have felt that way since the first visit. Even parishioners make us feel welcome.

Since some time in the end of 2003 or beginning of 2004, our granddaughter, Baby Emma Lynde, has been on your "Prayer Request" list. Mary Alice Steck had placed her name on the list. Emma is one of those "Miracle" babies that you had recently mentioned at Mass a few weeks ago. A young woman at Mary Queen had recently been very ill with what must have been a hi-risk pregnancy. And they were at Mass that Sunday with their newborn "Miracle" baby. Although my daughter did not know it at the time in 2003, she was extremely ill during her pregnancy. As a result, to save her life and the life of her baby, she had an emergency C-section in July of 2003 and Emma was born over 3 months early. Emma weighed 1 1/2 pounds and was 12 1/2 inches long. Heather made a full recovery but Emma was very very ill and I can't tell you how many times we almost lost her. Fortunately she was a very strong willed little girl. The nurses were sure that her will to live and all the prayers made her a survivor. We had people everywhere, all across the country praying for her. Our little Emma is going to be 4 years old soon. She still has some respiratory, vision and growth problems to overcome so I would like to ask you to leave her name on the Prayer list. I want to say thank you to all the members of Mary Queen of Heaven for all those prayers. I know the prayers are what really helped her to get through some extremely difficult times. My daughter, Heather is coming in the weekend of July 1st with Emma. So we will see you at church that weekend. If you see a very feisty, very little girl with glasses that will be Emma Ann.

Again, my many thanks for all the prayers that have come from Mary Queen of Heaven.

Judi Spinelli

"Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least
brothers of mine, you did for me."
	Mt 25:40

There is more good news to share with you about the 2007 Catholic
Ministries Annual Appeal.

Many thanks to those of you who have already made generous
pledges to the Appeal. We have reached 70 percent of our
Diocesan goal, with $4,500,000 pledged. This year we have more
donors and more revenue compared to this time last year.

If you have not had the opportunity to make a pledge pledged, now
is the time to do so, before busy summer schedules take over.
You can either send your pledge on the forms in the back of
church or give directly through the Diocese of Joliet website
www.dioceseofjoliet.org. Click on Donate Now Click and Pledge.

At Mary Queen of Heaven parish, we have reached 59% of our goal,
with $16,002.00 pledged. Let's do what we can to reach 100%.

The ministries of the Diocese touch so many of our families and
our neighbors that it is our responsibility to help our neighbors
and friends. Please be generous.

Thank you!
