Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Asks for your prayers in this holy season of Lent. Those making the journey into Christian Initiation have now entered a period called Purification and Enlightenment. During the season of Lent we become more prayerful and less academic. We look to purify ourselves from that which hurts others and we seek to turn from the darkness of not recognizing God in our lives to the light of having God as the center of our lives. Please pray each day for our young men who will be baptized at our Easter Vigil: Aleksey, Mark, Martin, Steven, Thomas, and Arthur. Please pray every day for those who will be welcomed into our church at the Easter Vigil: Jeannette, Tiffany, Tom, and Tom. Pray for Tammy who will receive the sacrament of Confirmation at the Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday. And please pray for those who will be continuing on in their journeys into next year: Jackie, Michelle, Jackie, Robert, Marc, Melissa, and Mike. God has blessed us with a full house this year. As members of Mary Queen of Heaven Community, we all have the privilege and responsibility to pray for and to give a good example for our new family members. Simple Supper and Stations of the Cross On Friday, April 2, the Worship Commission will have a Simple Supper at 6:30 p.m. in Barrett Hall. We have invited the Lebanese Community of Our Lady of Lebanon to join us for supper, and we plan to join them at their Stations of the Cross after the supper. Supper will consist of soup, salads, breads, and coffee, tea or pop. Bring your family and enough soup, salad or bread to share. Enjoy the company of friends and the opportunity to meet parishioners from Our Lady of Lebanon Church. Please fill out the form in the church vestibule so that we will have an idea of how many people plan to attend. This is the perfect time to start thinking if you are being called to be a catechist in our Religious Education Program next school year. The only qualification is that you love children and you want to share your faith with them. Everything else is provided. The monetary payment is not terrific; in fact, it's non-existent. But the perks are incredible. This year we lose some catechists due to moves, jobs, or maybe moving on to another parish ministry. So whether you feel comfortable with little ones, not so little ones, or those in between, chances are that we will have a slot for you to fill. Our program meets on Wednesdays at 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. for pre-school to Gr. 4, and 7 to 8:15 p.m. for Gr. 5-8. Call us for more info. We would love to have you on our staff. Lenten Project Thanks to all who have so generously donated Easter “goodies” to our annual collection for Marillac House. Sister Antoinette will be very pleased, not to mention all the little children on the near West side of Chicago who will be very happy on Easter morning because of you. Prayer Requests+ To pray for our sick is an important privilege of our parish family. We hope that you will pray for these persons every day, alone or as a family. Thank you.
